days of summer
In the pursuit of skill sharpening, I took a class on murrini with American artist Loren Stump. It was hotter than Hades in his studio as the outside tempatures exceeded 100 degrees almost everyday. However, his daughter’s pet didn’t seem to mind as long as we shared our lunch with him, her, it..whatever it was. I think it’s name is Nugget although I kept thinking it was Maggot. I got it straight eventually.

fall days
it’s getting colder… I had to share this beautiful tree with you. It turns this fabulous red every year. I can see it from my kitchen window and I appreciate it much….

Life….
I purchased three sets of greeting cards a while ago. One was for new babies, one for weddings and one with sympathy cards. I used one baby card, two wedding cards and all of the sympathy cards…. what does it say about life? If you have a dream, do it now. If you have a desire, make it happen. Procrastination does not prolong life, it robs you of your aspirations. Go, make a difference.

shameless self promotion
It’s a little hard to get started here. I think that in order for a blog to be successful, you have to update daily (and I am sort of lazy) and you need to be willing to bare your soul a bit. That might take some doing. I really am sort of a private person. But I do love sharing inspiration. I started this sculpture with the idea that I am in love with the basket and how it defines it’s space by it’s existence. By building the basket, I create a space and build the parameters around it. The more this one looked pear-shaped, the more it looked like a middle aged woman. So, it became me. You can tell because of the blue eye. Right? Anyway…. here it is… ‘the portrait of the artist as a basket’

Musings on art and life……
The Bead Museum in Washington DC hosted a design competition recently. “what lies beneath” placed second in the ‘Lampwork and Dichroic” category under ‘professionals’.
